My 22-250 was my first rifle. Took a whole lot of woodchucks with it. Still have it 28 years later.

Hey,funny you should mention that,I just got one in 308 last week..$160.I refinished the stock, and put on a 4 power Redfield Frontier that I had in the drawer. Can`t hardly wait to go see what she`ll do!By the looks of `er,sombody kept `er on a swamp buggy for awile, let `er get rusty. She cleaned up good, and now she looks real nice..I really like takin` a neglected rifle and given` it the care it needs..218

they made them in .44mag but pretty rare...so is the .30-.30 that you bought...a true workhorse of a rifle...i'll bet they discontinued the 788 because it performed so well that it kept sales down of the higher price rifles....should had kept the ones i've had over the years.... .22-.250 .243 .6mm .30-.30 .308 .44 magall of them functioned and shot great....just not very pretty to look at with the bland wood and military grade bluing..but heck guns don't have to be pretty to be liked.....

Yes they made a .44 Mag. Not a lot of them though. I had to get rid of my 22.250, couldn't reload for it. My .222 still as good as new. SIGN of the TIMES. When I had the gun/barber shop, I bought them for $92.00 ea. delivered if I took 4 or more.Sold them for $115.00. Wish I could buy them back.
