Damn I hate it when the liberals start acting like the surplus (which still exists but to a lesser degree) is their money. A surplus, by definition, is money that is collected beyond that which is needed to fund the items that were budgeted. Who the hell is anyone to say that it should go to pay off the deficit? If the deficit needs to be paid off then budget it. Don't ROB it from me. It's my money and nobody else has a claim to it. Guess what, that $300 was what I needed to buy that gun I was looking at. I don't care if it's only $300. It's MY $300. Who are YOU to say that it should go to pay off the deficit? Keep your d@mn hands out of my wallet. If it's such a big deal, then BUDGET more spending to reduce the deficit. We have a surplus. It still exists. That means that all of the current budget is FULLY FUNDED. If the issue of the deficit is so important that you would ROB me of my hard-earned money, then BUDGET the money to pay off the deficit. Geez.If you made less than $10,000 last year then I don't want to hear you griping that you didn't get a $300 check too. You didn't get the check because you didn't pay the taxes that I paid! Maybe you are making less than $10K because you can't do simple math. That $300 check (or whatever denomination you received) wasn't a welfare payment or an economic stimulus payment. Who cares if it had no noticable effect on the economy? It was high time that it was given back to those that paid in. Of course the rich are going to get more back. It is the rich whose backs the budget rides. It's the rich who bear most of the tax burden.

Nobody said deficit, I said National Debt. A TRUE Conservative would understand that when you have a little extra money it should go to pay off your bills. It's the funny thinking liberals that believe that you can go on spending more than you take in forever.

It's just come across the news services that GWB is going to sign the campaign speech control act and I've skimmed the press release. His statement is a great disappointment to me, to say the least. I think the existing campaign laws skirt very close to the line of the 1st Amendment. This one goes way over. There is one of two things going on. Either (A) He has read the Constitution and he (or some legal advisors) honestly don't think they are violating it. In that case, what's to stop him from similarly interpreting the 2nd Amendment to allow the government to do just about anything they want with firearms, like ban them entirely for civilians except under very limited circumstances? That's exactly what they've done with political speech when it relates to specific candidates, pro or con. Or (B) He knows or suspects that major parts of it are unconstitutional, but he has made a political calculation that he gains more votes by supporting it than he loses. If (A), then I shouldn't vote for him in 2004 because I can't trust him to defend my rights under the Constitution. If (B), then I'll assist him in making his political calculation come true by being in the minority of people who don't vote for him.As you can tell, I'm pretty ticked off at GWB over this.

GORDIAN BLADE- Ohhhh a candidate is not going to agree with you on everything. You cant not vote for him because of a few teeny weeny little differences you have with him-you know, like obeying the constitution. For some of you others who are equating me with lefties like GOre and Clinton-typical. I challenge the validity of GWs conservatism, and you equate me with leftists.I wish some of you cheerleaders would put your pom poms down, and tell me why you like GW, and what he has done that you think makes him a swell president.Try and leave outA. He is better than ClintonB. He is better than GoreC. It could be worse.D. He is doing a great job with the war.I gave you a list of why I think that GW is doing a lousy job, now you give me a few specifics that show he is a good president.Face it, we mine as well have a democrat in there.

The difference between Democrats and Republicans. The Democrats campaign as moderates, but when the get elected, the turn left. They know they will have a difficult time getting elected if they run as what they are, letists. So the run as moderates, the leftists still vote for them(because they are in tune with the political game), and then when in office, they return to their leftists roots. The Spineless republicans, start off as conservative. Sometimes they start the campaign as conservative, and then slowly go to the middle in order to attract the so called "moderates". Generally what happens, is the conservatives(who axctually believe in something) decide to abstain from voting for the Republican. Look at Brett Schundler, GOP governor candidate in the last New Jersey election. Came out strong for gun rights, and right to life issues. Was doing well, but was a bit behind his adversary. Rather than try and "bring in" some moderates to his philosophy, he did a otal 180 with respect to gun rights and right to life issues. What happend? He lost the pro gun, prolife, and other conservatives. I know gun owners on this board who were gun ho about voting for schundler, but when Schundler turned soft, they stayed home.George Bush ran as a conservative. He won as a conservative. And now that he is in office, rather than trying to draw people into the conservative philosophy, he is trying to appease to leftists and moderates by adopting leftist positions. Doesnt the fact that he won the election as a conservative suggest that quite a few people in this country are conservative, or find the conservative positions attractive? When will the Republican party realize, that "when you try and please everybody, you please nobody." And thgat is exactly what happens, when the republican candidate or elected official feels the need to go left-NO ONE VOTES FOR THEM.Look at the GOP lead congress. THey were elected into power by a landslide in 1994. People saidf through elections they wanted conservative representation. What do the Republicans in Congress do? They start going "moderate" and "left" because they are afraid of all of the propoganda about people not liking their conservative outlook(all liberal scare tactics). So the GOP goes left, and within 8 yearsa they lose their majorities. Was that because the middle thought they were to right? Of course not! They were not right, they were moderates. They lost because conservatives have no faith in the republican party.Democrats run as Moderates, and then after being elected, go way left.Republicans run as Conservatives, and then after being elected, they go left. Democrats win.Republicans Lose.

Saxon, you and I ought to start a new party. We sure wouldn't have much to argue about when it came time to write the party platform. You can be Prez, I just want to be AG until you can appoint me to the Supreme Court, preferably as Chief Justice. Then I'll *really* rock some boats!!!

I informed our President, when I was contacted for a campaign fund, prior to him being elected that as far as I was concerned he was a weak-willy unwise in the ways of the world, but even so, preferable to a confirmed socialist. I encouraged him to,stand up and oppose anything he recognizedto be wrong or not in the best interests of our country. He has failed miserably in this respect. To drop bombs by night and food by day doesn't in any shape, form, or fashionresemble a war. their are not enough people left living to remember what constitutes a real war, so his please and thank you endevors is to some degree accepted. The bombs and munitions being used on the afgans are depleting our military capability daily, and aperson would have to be pretty dumb, not to realize that our enemys like china is not biding her time til in her estimation, we are at our weakest point to make her move. Most people with even the slightest knowledge of our military capability, knows that we could have accomplished in less than 3 weeks time what is still on-going in the war (I use the term loosely)on terror. If we as a nation continue to run all over the world seeking approval for doing the right thing, we will continue to be regarded as weak, and no longer command the respect, earned on so many battlefields,in the past. Lets Face it we will never have a Pat Buchanan, or AlanKeyes in office for they live a little close to reality and truth to be very popular in todays world. Is anyone out there ignorant enough to believe had Buchanan came in instead of Bubba that china would have the missle guidance systems that she now pocesses. Why must our great country have to learn or in some instances repeat mistakesthat are recorded in history.
