Anyone see Smith interview in NRAs FIRSTFREEDOM?

In this months "first freedom" the NRA interview incumbent senator Smith from Oregon. It is one of those interviews that the NRA gives to so called "pro gunners", in which the NRA gives the interviewee a veiled endorsement, and gives the Senator the oppurtunity to stump as a pro gun candidate for the upcoming election. The article seemed pretty "thin" on Mr. Smiths pro gun positions, I think the second amendment was mentioned once in the article, and smith gave a "I believe in the second amendment" type response. I had to see wherethis guy really stands, and checked the GOA rating of Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith earned a D- from GOA. I wonder why the NRA is trying to represent Mr. Smith as a pro gun candidate, when he is so flagrantly anti gun.Any NRA members care to explain why the NRA would endorse a anti gun incumbent Senator?

greetings, rugst'r i have to say that's a weak arguement, they can expose someones anti-gun leanings without an endoresment. the best reason i can think of is his opponate is worse , the worse reason i can think of is graft and greed ( keep the donations pouring in ). respt submitted dads-freehold

I thinkj it is safe to say that the NRA did not do the interview to expose Smith as an anti-gunner. If anyone is exposed by the interview., it is the NRA.
Does this Senator receive money from the NRA. If he does, NRA members should be alarmed by the fact that your contributions are aiding and abetting this anti gunner in his reelection campaign.

I can't say I agree with everything the NRA does, or even who they endorse(maybe we are trying to persuade him to vote pro-gun?), but they are the biggest supporter of the Second and I will always be a member!! This guy might be on the fence and we are trying to get him to decide either or. I guess the only way we can see if he is pro-gun is to look at his voting history, and I guess a "D" is better than an "F".

This guy is not "on the fence". Someone who gets a D- cannot be considered someone who is "on the fence."
It is truly pitiful that a so called gun rights group would even consider supporting someone who has such an abyssmal record when it comes to gun votes. And the fact that members of that gun rights group would condone it is even more pitiful.
I wondere if Handgun control also supports him. Certainly not far fetched that an anti gunner would receive support from handgun control-certainly less far fetched than a pro gun group supporting him.

MrNathanlee- go to www.gunowners.org There you can find a section called "congressional gun votes". This section lists gun control bills, and how each congressman voted on specific bills.
