Taxes due today

Today, for those who make quarterly payments, was the day that your third quarter tax payments were due.
I had take money out of my account, money that I earned and saved, and give it to those ba$%@^%$ in Washington. Every quarter I get rather annoyed about having to diminish my savings and give the government MY MONEY!! Wouldnt it be nice, if EVERYONE had to make quarterly payments, instead of having taxes automatically deducted. When it is automatically deducted, it is very easy to not realize that the government is taking money from you. But when you have to write a check to the Feds, it is very easy to realize that the government is taking your hard earned money. If everyone had to write a check, more people would be ticked, and would demand lower taxes.
I think there should be a law that employers cannot deduct money from your paychecks. Instead the people themselves would be responsible for forking their hard earned money to the government. The people might start to realize how much of their money is going to the fgovernment.

I agree Salzo, problem is too many people out there don't have the fiscal discipline to send it in.....

The same thing can be said for property taxes, most have it included in their house payment....

My six month property tax bill is due the end of the month, won't pay it till the very last day....I know, it's childish...but I feel better doing that way.....

One of my good buds is a plumber. He NEVER files his quarterlies. He pays at the end of the year only. He says he is not giving the government his money until he has to. He has to pay a penalty for his stubbornness, but I have to admire the sentiment.

Me? I am an employee. Mine gets held out every two weeks. I make sure that enough gets held out to cover the small gun business as well.

Yep, seems I'm going to start charging double my hourly rate, darn near half goes away to the feds in one check. You're right, when I worked for a company and had taxes pulled from my pay I griped about it a little, when things were tight, but now, I pay for the advertisement, bid the jobs, hire help, do the work, pay the taxes, pay insurance, equipment payments and repairs, and supplies. I'm not so much griping per se, I now am much better off and even have more free time, but AAAARRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!! ( to quote Mr. Nunn)
P.S. WHY DO I HAVE TO BE PENALIZED FOR TAKING THE INITIAVE AND STARTING MY OWN BUISNESS ( IN THE FORM OF SELF-EMPLOYMENT TAX?) -Ralph

What's worse is that if you miscalculate your tax liability April can be a very difficult month. Last year I sent in an extraordinary amount of money on April, June, September and January 15 and then I still got stuck with forking over a boatload more when I filed! I hate taxes, especially because I know how much that money is wasted.

I'm all for the flat tax.

Yeah. There really is a difference when you actually have the money in your posession, and then you have to write a check and hand your posessions over to the IRS.
As far as most people not having the discipline to send it in on their own? Good!
Penalize the heck out of them, throw them in jail!! Then MAYBE they will think about voting for people who wont be so inclined to steal money from them. One day in jail for not paying your taxes on time, or not paying your taxes at all , and Ill bet youll think twice about voting a tax and spender into office.
