Mineta Should Resign

I have just sent an email to the office of the Transportation Secretary, Norman Mineta calling for him to do the right thing for our country and resign immediately. He is out of step with the needs and desires of the citizens of the USA.

The congress passed a law allowing the pilots of commerical aircraft to be armed with hand guns. The President of the United States signed it into law. The airline pilots association agrees with the idea as do the majority of the flying public in recent surveys.

This man has taken it upon himself to ignore the law and all of the people who want it implimented. He is a disgrace to the office he holds and I would hold him personnally responsible for any future deaths due to sky jackings in our country.

The President cannot fire him because Mineta is a democrat. The political fallout would deal a fatal blow to Bush, who made two very bad decisions in Mineta and Ridge.

The buck stops with GW. The transportation secretary would not do anything without consulting with the President.
White house spokespeople said that the opinions of Ridge and Mineta, with respect to arming pilots, reflected the views of the president.
President Bush does not want pilots armed.
We should stop looking for a scapegoat in the Bush administration, and place the blame squarely on the shoulders of George Bush.

I wonder how many weapons are aboard AF1 when he, or any of his family, takes to the sky?

Sounds kinda like RosieOpig - Its wrong, unless it affects me or mine, then its O.K.

Yes, this should be pinned squarely on W. The FAA PR people say that only Sky Marshals should be armed because they are trained, while the pilots should concentrate on flying the planes, which sounds good until you realize how many flights there are per day and how few Sky Marshals. I hate being played by anyone for a fool. If there is a future skyjacking or other terrorist incident that could have been prevented by an armed pilot, all political hell should descend on W and his administration. I voted for the guy, but every week I'm getting less and less pleased with him. If I had wanted a Democrat in office, I would have voted for one.

What should also be realized, is prohibiting pilots from carrying firearms is a recent phenomenon. Pilots were prohibited from carrying firearms in July 2001
