Finally I won a dang auction! I guess the secret is if there is a good deal, you had better be there in the closing moments of the auction or you will be a$$ed out! What a wonderful feeling, now I don't need to worry about that Sprinfield scope I broke since I got a Leupold now.

I finally won an auction where I had to bid back and fourth. Picked up a 15-22 for $437 and $25 ship with insurance! Feel like I did OK. I have a $15 xfer fee and the total is less than anything I have seen local before tax. Matter of fact, less than the 2 used ones I have seen before tax.

I think that SaxonPig has it right. When I bid, I simply bid what I am willing to spend. 9 times out of 10 I don't "win" the item. But, occassionally, I end up getting something for a real bargain price. Then, even if I didn't think I was going to get it, I can still turn around and re-sell it to at least cover my investment. Of course I hardly ever part with a gun once I own it, but it is a good excuse to tell my wife Anyway, unless you are a collector, I can't see how approaching an auction any other way would save you any money over going to your local gunshop.

I could have bid that way but in this case I did not. I did not reach my max that I was willing to pat either. Thanks for the advice because I may need that next time as I never thought of it like that.

218, I think the legand of our hunting grounds has grown pretty large!270, I'd like to do some hunting with you. Maby we can get together and go down to 218's place and hunt wild boars in the swamp?
