I'm taking this one to have it full body mounted. If I hear of anyone getting rid of any hides I will sure as heck let you know.

270, you're suppose to let 'em grow up first![:D] Looks like he already has his winter coat on, that'll make a nice mount. What did it weigh?

He's only 22 lbs. They don't get a whole lot bigger around here I am told. I'm thinking of going to Holcomb Valley for a hunt. Maybe some altitude and more rabbits will yield a bigger cat.

I've seen a couple of 30 pounders out by Coalinga, and bigger up in the foothills. I think it has alot to do with the food supply. Were you using a call?

This time I was not calling, I just happened upon them and made a lucky shot. I have a Burnham Brothers Copucaller 2 that I am using now that I got rid of my Johnny Stewart. Sure saved some weight but I'm still not happy so I ordered the Foxpro with 32 sounds. I have found that the cats like the bobcat in heat and distressed quail call.
I went hog hunting in Parkfield once but didn't see any cats. I would sure like to get a 30 pounder, that would rock! You live in that area?

Use to live in Fresno, up by Sac. now. Buddy has 2 sections out by Huron and some more by Coalinga. We would go out at night for rabbit population control, 300 in a night was normal 'cause they were eating acres or alfalfa. Put all the dead rabbits in a pile and used a Circe wounded rabbit call. I got real good at calling bob's and coyotes, usually right up behind me[:0]!!!

I walked up on one a few weeks ago. Thought it was a big cat. Just stood there looking at me. I wish I had a gun but then things like that would never happen. Don

I used to hunt pigs around New Idria, not that far from Coalinga. I saw several bobcats over a ten year span, usually right around dusk. Never shot one, but did shoot a lot of wild pigs and a couple coyotes in the same area.

Don't think I'd shoot a bobcat. Always liked them. Don't seem to be so many around anyways.

There were 8 on the hill I shot this fellow off of. You are right though, there aren't many around. I think that's why you are only allowed 5 per year and not many folks even apply for tags.

I'm surprised there are that many tags available, but I have to expect the game commission folks know how good the population is and what the land can handle. I don't think we have eight left in the entire county.

BDJ, Me too, I just like to watch them now. When I lived up on Lake Millerton above Fresno, I had a momma bring her babies down to eat the cats food by the back door. Good entertainment!

There's some folks on the net that will sell you tame bobcat kittens and I hear they are real good pets. I'm sure that feeding them 1 pound of hamburger per day when they get grown would get expensive and surely the damned state or local government would want you to have some kind of stupid permit but it sure would be neat to have a big ole tom bobcat meet you at the door everyday after work!

They do make a good pet, after being fixed, declawed, and defanged! When bob kitties want to play, it can get bloody real fast! I still got a few scars from a friendly wrestling match with a buddy's pet bob![B)]

We raised an orphaned one until he grew up enough to go out on his own. He use to come by at night to say hello after he was full grown. Never fed him from a bowl. Made him hunt for it or hang the meat off a tree limb so he had to climb. Neat little critter and very friendly when he was young.

My nephew got a 43 lb tom last deer season here in Southern Arkansas. I am hunting the same area and hope I get a shot at one. They get pretty big down here according to the G&F biologist.

Shot this one in the back of the neck with a 6x47. He crouched to jump right as I pulled the trigger. I talked to the taxidermy fellow and he said it should sew up okay.

    Nice Kitty!

The only one I have seen:

I was in a dry wash calling coyotes with a dying rabbit call, and some pebbles fell down on my head. I looked straight up, and there that kitty was, staring down at me from about 4 feet up! Scared the bejeezzus outta me! I yelled, and off he went like a bullet. I never took a shot. I was shakin' too much.
