Say, is there any truth in the rumor that Tasco closed its doors? I've
also heard they filed for bankruptcy, so that may not mean there out of business for good. Any info would be appreciated!! Thanks

That is the jist of what has been posted here over the last several weeks.

I believe that Tasco is the low end scope line of Celestron Optics, and Celestron is said to be up for sale.

    Here you go Buddy,

    June 12, 2002

    To Our Valued Customers:

Effective May 28, 2002, Tasco has filed an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors in the Florida
State Court in Broward County. Accordingly, Tasco will be following a liquidation plan that will
include the sale of all assets including inventory, furniture and fixtures, equipment, trade names and
    intellectual property.

It should be noted that several parties have expressed an interest in purchasing the intellectual property
of the company that would include the trade names of Tasco. At the present time we are optimistic
that a sale of the intellectual property will occur in the near future which will allow Tasco products to
    continue in the marketplace.

As part of the liquidation plan, Tasco understands that consumers and dealers must have access to a
facility that can handle repairs of Tasco products. We are pleased to announce that Tasco has
negotiated (subject to court approval) with ABO (USA), Inc. in Miami to handle future consumer
repairs. For further information regarding this service, please contact ABO (USA), Inc. at
305-860-4858. Recorded announcements and further information will be available at
1-888-GET-TASCO or visit the Tasco Web Site at www.tasco.com.

Thank you for your loyalty over the years to the Tasco brand Please feel free to contact your sales or
management team to answer any questions you may have at 954-252-3600.

What company/investment group, in their right mind, would want to continue using the name Tasco. I hate to be a snob about this, but this company name has long been associated with cheap products.

Isnt the super sniper tasco a four hundred dollar scope? Talk about a leap of faith, I would spend the same money and get a Burris or Leupold and then I would be able to sleep through the night without waking up in a cold sweat screaming TASCO!

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

The SS is a high quality scope.
    I have them,Leupold Marks and a B&L Tac.
    The Tascos are equal.
    Please remember,Tasco was a contractor.
They never mfgd a thing, all they did was contract with optics companies for a product.
Any company from the Chinks to Fujinon made their stuff.
You just have to know who made what.

It was Tasco SS10x42 that beat Bausch&Lomb for the Navy Seals contract. I think the Army still uses it. Not 100% sure about that. But they did at one time.

I have a World Class 3x9x40 on my Model 7 and it has performed as good or better than other big name scope maker out there. Sorry to see them go.
