Wanted to answer your question or statement about a law not being broke in the post on a handgun being shipped UPS ground.

Neal Myers covered it in an early reply to the post, and I saw no need to replow that ground in my posts.

You are correct that it is UPS's rule about not shipping handguns via ground ... that is the "rule" part. However, the law that was broken was that the shipper did not declare and therefore concealed the contents of the package and without a signature requirement on a firarms shipment (long or handgun) there is a violation. So concealing the contents and not having it shipped with the need for an adult signature is a violation.

Now if UPS delivers a package that is shipped with an signature requirement w/o getting the signature then they are the ones in violation.

This whole thing is a little circular, if you don't tell them what is in the package you are the violater, if you do they won't ship it ground for handguns ... long gun, same is true except they will ship it ground, signature required, and if they don't get a signature they are the violater.

Of course you hit the thing square on the head when you suggested that he track the package via UPS web site and not get in a flap until non-delivery is really an issue.

    And so it goes ...

Oops, edit here, I forgot to mention that I would have sent all of this boring stuff to you via email, but you don't receive it so hence the post.

I read your post about holosights(spelling), can you please give me more info. on the ones you use, i.e. brand, experience with them, pros and cons, lighting levels they are effective at, everything you can think of. I may be getting one, but I'd like more info. and to hear other's experiences first, thanks, Ryan.

robsguns: like I said in the other post I have 3 Bushnell HOLO sights, 2 of them are model 400 and the other one is their newest model the HOLOsight II. I have one of them equiped with their 1MOA dot reticle and the other 2 have their standard reticle of them. On the older model which is the 400 you can get different reticle's and change them yourself, but on the new model you have to buy them with the reticle you want and they only have 2 choice's standard and 1 MOA. I have found them to work just fine in all lighting conditions even at night if you can see your target and keep the power turned down you will be able to make the shot. This is one of the reasons why I got into the holosight is because I had to pass up a nice buck several years ago when I was using a Super Blackhawk with a Aimpoint 5000 on it and could not find the deer in it , It was still too dark out,( legal shooting hours though ) I could see the buck with my eyes but when I would look through the tube of the aimpoint I couldn't see anything but the red dot, now with the holosight you are not looking though a tube with the red dot in side so you don't have that problem, and then you have the other end of things with bright sunny days, with the holo sight turn up I have never had a problem finding the dot on the target. Battery live is good with them I have never had to change batteries during are 9 day deer season, but I do carry an extra set. I have used them on several different guns including a ruger 1022, redhawk 44 mag, redhawk 45 lc with corbon loads and my T/C Encore 50 x 209 oh and my rem 12 ga 870 slug gun and turkey gun last spring and never any problems with any of them and they are really easy to change to different guns as they clamp to a standard weaver base with their our 2 cross screws. Hope this helps.

Yes it helped a lot, very informative, and answered my questions well. Just one more question, which dot do you PREFER, although you have both, and why?

robsguns: hard question ,on a rifle or handgun I would have to say that the 1 MOA dot, because you have just the dot to focus on and nothing else to distract you ,but like I said I do have 2 of them with the standard reticle which is a dot in the center with a red circle around the out side, and they work just fine for the shotgun and 1022 , I think maybe it has something to do with them being on a shorter range weapon. The lowest price I have seen for the bushnell's holosight II is $169 I think that was a special in shotgun news, but most of the time they are higher

robsguns: the load I shoot in my encore is a 44 cal 240 jhp with 150 grains of cleanshot powder and in the 870 its 3" mags, the sight seem to handle them ok the only gun that I ever heard of breaking one of these was a desert eagle in 50ae ( which has them mounted right on the slide where they would take one heck of a beating , and this was the old model the 400, this was why they redesigned them and came out with the holosight II which I understand can take it now, that is, the big desert eagle

robsguns: yes there is a mount that goes on the super redhawk that will let you use a holosight, basically its the bottom of a set of rings and a flat weaver type base made as one unit, I have seen them on auction before so just look around , do you have a gander mountain in your area? they should have them. if you can't find any let me know and i will ask around my dealers
