Alright, I went to go buy a 9MM today and the damn thing was selling in front of my eyes! All that was left was a .357Sig Glockster. Is this a better (more powerfuller) than a .40 and what is the recoil comparable to? Is this going to be a wife friendly cartridge? (she's a real recoil wuss) Someone give me the skinny please!

Will, while the 357sig round is more powerful than the 40 due to it's higher FPS rate, it has slightly less recoil than the 40. Either of these rounds are too powerful for a wuss. I would recommend a 32 or 380 for her.-Charlie

Beware the Glock in anything over 9mm. 40 and 45's have had a lot of Kabooms. Debate wrangles as to whether this is due to using hotloaded ammo(operator error) or Glock didn't increase barrel outside diameter when they stepped up cartridge diameter(manufacturer error). Either way, I would recommend avoiding them until the dust settles.

yup, there is some recoil w/ the 357 sig, the wife has one in a glock. nice gun but it does have a good bark to it. i would keep looking for a 9mm.

Ok, everybody take a deep breath now...Let's take into account for a minute that the Glock .40 cal. is now issued to police officers across the country in staggering numbers. If these KB's were truly a widespread phenomenon then rest assured we would be hearing about cases where the pistols would be exploding in law enforcement firing ranges given the shear number of practice and qualification rounds fired each year. Glock, Inc. would be facing mumerous lawsuits and would have been forced to take action. As far as I know this has not occurred. I depend on my Glocks without fear and without fail and will continue to do so.

I have yet to meet someone who can give me a 1st-person account of a KaBoom. I won't take sides on the issue until I can meet someone that can so that I can grill them on the specifics of the situation.Until then, I'll be purchasing an aftermarket barrel that has a fully-supported chamber for the Glock I'm picking up this month.[This message has been edited by idsman75 (edited 01-07-2002).]

I just got a glock 26 about three months ago, and I like it. Not a pro on the topic, but the guy that sold it to me said that glock .40 calibers kick harder than a .45.all the officers that were at the gun shop swear by glocks, so I got me one. put about 2000 rounds through it so far, and I'm loving it. The guy told me that the 19 is becoming scarce for some reason and he had no idea when he would get them in, so i got the 26..either way...great guh IMO

I've put 1500+ rounds of ammo through my Glock .45 and I've never had a single problem. I've read about the Kaboom problem, but I've never seen it happen. And, one of the ranges I go to rents the Glock .40 and .45s, among others, and they haven't seen any problems either (after probably tens of thousands of rounds).I think that people are still a little concerned because the frame is plastic. Remember, the Titanic was made of steel (albeit inferior grade). My $0.02
