pre-ban mags

Ok, here's my stupid question for the day. I was talking with an individual at work and he stated that pre-ban (over 10 round) magazines could not be used in guns made after the ban. I alway thought that you could use a pre-ban mag in any gun it would fit. What's the real story? I know this question has been answered before, but please bear with me and answer it again.

You can use any pre-ban mag in a post-ban gun, except for guns which are imported and sneaking in through a loophole in the law which was passed stating guns of certain types can have no more than 8 or 10 parts of foriegn origin in the gun. That may sound confusing, but that's how Romanian AK's are coming into the country, as there are american parts added to an incomplete gun.The problem arises when the importer maxes out the number of parts without the magazine as a consideration. Once you stick a foreign magazine into a maxed out parts gun, you are in violation of the import law. This is a tough one that I doubt any police officer except for a real gun buff, would know.If it's a domestically made gun, this is not a concern.
