Crew Walks Off Orlando-To-Dulles FlightMan Questioned Because Of Similar NameDebra A. Scott, NewsChannel2000 Staff WriterPosted: 10:02 p.m. EDT October 4, 2001Updated: 12:17 a.m. EDT October 5, 2001ORLANDO, Fla. -- A flight from Orlando International Airport to Dulles Intenational Airport in Washington Thursday was canceled after the crew refused to fly with a man who had been questioned by federal sky marshals. A passenger on the plane spoke with CNN about the incident and United Airlines confirmed the information. According to the reports, federal sky marshals stormed United Airlines Flight 918 shortly before it was supposed to take off at 2:30 p.m. EDT. The sky marshals pulled a male passenger off the plane because his name on the flight manifest might have matched a name on the FBI list of suspected terrorist accomplices and/or leads. After interviewing the subject at OIA, the marshals determined that he was not the suspect, and allowed him back on the plane to continue to Washington. However, two flight crewmembers on board refused to fly with him, even after he was cleared. Because the flight crews walked, the flight was canceled and passengers are being rebooked on other flights, including Flight 978, which left Orlando at 6:45 p.m. and was due into Dulles at 8:52 p.m. Copyright 2001 by News4Jax.com.
