Liberals want to remove guns
From Paul Acre,
Greenbrier:
The liberals will not stop until they have taken your guns away.
Some years ago I had been "mediatized" into thinking the National Rifle Association (NRA) was bad. I believed there should be some middle ground that could provide for the public's safety. I didn't want unsupervised children or criminals to have guns and I still don't. However, I now believe that there is (Rule 1) no middle ground for liberals.
If you believe they don't want your old huntin' rifle or shotgun, you should know that the difference between a hunting rifle and a sniper rifle or so-called assault rifle is a simple manner of how the gun is used and cosmetics. A semi-automatic shotgun with five rounds of buckshot can shoot 45 .30-caliber round balls in about three seconds. This is as much or more firepower than an Uzi submachine gun with a 30-round clip. You can argue differences, but the point is the two have similar capability, that's why police carry shotguns. When you say liberals don't want your "hunting gun," refer back to Rule 1, because after they get the so-called assault guns banned from ownership, your hunting and target guns will be next to be demonized and pursued. I believe the NRA supports law-abiding citizens having guns and responsible gun laws, not laws that punish law-abiding citizens. The Second Amendment does not say anything about the right to keep and bear arms for hunting. If you still don't believe Rule 1, find out about the registration, gun-management bureaucracy and confiscation of guns from the people of Britain, Canada and Australia.
Life is full of risk and dangers that we naturally want to avoid, but life is about taking risks. However perspective by the media is lost when someone is hurt or killed in a gun-related incident and it is reported in a fashion that would suggest that a war is going on. There are people who won't leave their homes because they fear being shot. Yes, guns can be used to kill on purpose and accidentally, but they are inanimate tools just like knives, baseball bats, poison, etc. But, if the purpose is to do harm, take away the tool and simply the tactics change. Look how terrorists flew planes into the World Trade Center (WTC) and killed thousands. How about the freedom of speech? If we didn't have rights of privacy and the freedom of speech couldn't we have stopped the WTC attack? Will speech and privacy be the next target of the liberals? Only if it doesn't restrict their right to impose on us displays of human filth in the name of art.
This past Fourth of July I hope you reflected for just a moment at this country's history, where we've been, the direction it's headed in and the price that others paid to allow us to enjoy the freedoms we have today. We must not let our rights be stripped away by liberals and well-meaning people that in the name of protecting you, your freedoms are taken away.
