Gays take up handgun hobby for self defense

Lewiston --Some gay and lesbian residents of the Lewiston area are aiming for better self-defense by taking up handgun shooting.
They call themselves the `Pink Pistols.'
It's a national organization that works to educate gays on gun safety and ownership and encourages members to carry concealed weapons.
The national group, launched in 2000, has 32 chapters in 23 states. The Palouse chapter started forming in the past few months.
In conjunction with another shooting club, they hold outings to go over scenarios dealing with potential hate crimes.
