Be prepared for new airport rules or you may be grounded

This summer, many Americans are flying for the first time since Sept. 11. Even if you keep up with the news, you may not be sure what is and isn't allowed at airports around the country and on airliners.

The Transportation Security Administration has issued some reminders to expedite the process of passing through security checkpoints; the agency has also posted an updated list of items that passengers may not bring into the aircraft cabin.

Any changes to the list will be announced and posted on the TSA Web site at www.tsa.dot.gov.

American Airlines has also posted travel tips for the summer at www.aa.com.

Remember to allow extra time and arrive at least 90 minutes before your flight, two hours before an international flight. Heightened security at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport and Dallas Love Field has slowed the process of checking in and boarding. http://www.dfw.com/mld/startelegram/news/front/3431845.htm
