Reward offered in theft of firearms from store
OSHKOSH - The owner of a sporting goods store with the aid of a gun club is offering a $6,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
The break-in occurred late Wednesday or early Thursday at Jon's Sporting Goods, 2984 Jackson St. The thieves took 49 firearms, the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department said Friday.
Initial reports stated 62 firearms - mostly handguns - were stolen. But according to the sheriff's department, the number was revised after an inventory found not all were in a display case at the time of the theft.
Anyone with any information on the thefts is asked to contact the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department at 920-236-4900.
