Pregnant driver was shot 'for disrespect' By Sue Clough, Courts Correspondent(Filed: 06/09/2001) http://portal.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2001/09/06/nrage06.xml A PREGNANT woman was shot in the knee at almost point-blank range in front of her children after a row over a minor traffic shunt, a court heard.Colin Grant shot Fiona McNamee, a trainee solicitor who was seven months pregnant, because she "dissed" him, it was claimed.Miss McNamee, 28, was left writhing in agony in front of her two children, aged four and seven, with a bullet lodged behind her kneecap and blood pouring from her right leg.She later gave birth to a boy, two months prematurely, Southwark Crown Court, south London, heard.Grant, 22, admitted causing her grievous * harm with intent and possessing a handgun and will be sentenced later. Yesterday a jury cleared his brother-in-law, Michael Rowe, 22, of Clapham, south London, of impeding his arrest.Rowe drove off in his BMW after Grant jumped in following the shooting in Streatham, urging him to "drive, drive, drive", but said he knew nothing of the shooting. It was only later that Grant told him "the woman got shot, she used disrespectful words, she talked tough, she dissed me".The court heard he shot her when they confronted each other over who was to blame for the minor accident. When police later raided Grant's Wandsworth home, "a gun came sailing out of a window, fully loaded but wrapped in a sock", said an officer. 3 May 2001: Mother shot in leg after hitting 'evil' dealer's car
