We the Government - Three for Freedom Now

xx This is a short but literally "We the Government" dispatch. Freedom's foes are united and coordinated and those of us determined to defend her are dispersed and distracted.
Right now I'm trying to get property people, gun people, tax people, philosophical (mainly Ayn Rand) people, liberty people of all stripes to strike on three fortunate targets of opportunity, if only for a few minutes, before returning to various primary missions.

Most urgent, because the drop-dead date is August 30, is to send an email in support of "Alternative One" (meaning, leave the farmers and ranchers alone) to pgso_gaviota@nps.gov

That will help stall the federal seizure of almost 336 square miles of land for a new national park in Santa Barbara County, California -- to match the two already existing in the area. Action alerts with more details are at www.landrights.org.

Tied for most urgent, to send an e-mail to president@whitehouse.gov expressing support for the "Healthy Forests Initiative" Bush announced in Oregon last week.

If it attracts popular support, this will open the door to the Sound Science Amendment to the Endangered Species Act ((HR) 4840 or fight!), a re-examination of the whole gamut of federal enviromental law and particularly its vicious implementation by the bureaus.

Otherwise the Initiative and the rest of the eco-sanity measures will wilt as the Energy Policy did.

Also, California Senator Diane Feinstein (D) stood with Senator Pete Dominici (R NM) and other Republicans just before the Congressional recess and called for, basically, what the Initiative would do.

She is wavering on some other enviromental and liberty issues, wondering whether one can be a Democratic Senator from California, stand up for enviro-sanity and sanity in general, and keep her seat. This item will help convince her the answer is "yes", at least if said Democrat shows realism on other liberty topics. We will need her vote this fall.

Initiative details are at www.whitehouse.gov, of course.

Also tied for most urgent is to go to the Sawgrass Rebellion site, hit the "sign to support" link, place name and e-mail address on form and enter. Jay Walley's and the Paragon Foundation's trans-national crusade is one of liberty's most roaring events this criticial autumn.

Watch this space for more hot-iron items that should be included now, but can wait just a few days, and so will have to. Feel free to send items of wide political import to jglankford@yahoo.com. If we just jump on several strategically-chosen ones a week, in large numbers, our assailants will tremble.

We have to pick such high-effect, hot-iron spots to strike out of the thousand thousand things with which we are being deliberately bombarded: We're too far behind to battle them only in local skirmishes now.

We have to pause in our usual all-chiefs, no-warriors chaos, our all-soloists, different scores unorchestrated cacaphony and give just a little salute to other liberty outfits' flags en masse -- for once, if only for minutes.

We have to rise above disdaining potential allies due to one or a few points of disagreement and remember that if, for the moment, we are all inclined to pull the same load in the same direction, it helps. We can always un-hitch later, no permanent promises made or broken.

We have to subdue reflexes to bark, "No, rather - - - " and "Not exactly, therefore disengage" and "That's not it, so forget it" at each other and learn to say "Yes to your alarm du jour -- done! And furthermore -- " instead.

Or, as the man said, we will surely hang separately.
