There is no land like our land

All nations have their legends, heroes, and legacy. Ours is pure.
It is pure because most of us dinosaurs have kept it that way in our hearts and taught our young to do the same.
Yes, we revere our out-laws and our pacifists too. Know why? We look at what each did, in his own way, and why. Have there been atrocities here? Oh! You bet there have been. Unlike most other nations, however, we have looked at them, admitted them, and endeavored to correct them. This was the dream our Founding Fathers sought to give us. They knew better than anyone, that life and the human beings enjoying it were not perfect. They only sought to give us the best plan they could for future development.
Well, it worked. We went on to be a nation who took in the humbled and broken from other nations. We went on to engage in a Civil War with no help from outside to define ourselves one with another. We went on to accept our warts and pull together through two more major wars to keep the evil from our midst.
It was only with the "Korean Conflict" that we began to question. Still we did our duty and said rah-rah. We sent our young men to be slaughtered for a parallel on the globe that we still send troops to defend until today. (The one, in fact, that I see as our greatest threat.)
Then there was Viet Nam. Let's don't even go there. Those of us who lived it on the home front and the battlefields have no more to say now. We just take care of each other and our young and say, "You're welcome".
Meanwhile, all the gluts who never put their * on the line to either fight one of these wars or sacrifice to support it endeavor to preach to us today.
Well, just like our out-laws, those of us who did remember. We know the lies we have been fed as surely as Jessie James did. We know we were sold out. We know our fathers had no choice in the Great Wars. We know that all wars are the same. One and all, they are built upon greed and avarice. Here's the twist:
Our kids today know it too and say, "That ain't right". The kids to which I'm referring are the ones who didn't go to military academies by appointment from their parents' wealth. They are not the ones who got put into the "proper" day-care center at birth. They are the ones that those who did will deem to be fodder for the next battle. Oh, they'll fight alright! Just look out, though, for whom they will fight.
They will fight for themselves and a new better world. They won't take time to drag us old dragons along with them. (I've instructed mine not to.) When it is over, they will come back to bury the bones because they do care. See, they aren't heartless, they are just sick of lies.
Our land is still the best because we still have our heroes. Even our out-laws. If it were not so, why did the young men on Flight 93 decide to drive it into the ground in Pennsylvania's countryside? If not, why do old dragons like me tell our young to leave us behind and save themselves. If not, why do our young tell us, "I will and know I will see you again in a better place for it".
Yep, we still have heroes among us. We still have the best land in the world. We still have THE RIGHT STUFF. It's unfortunate that the leaders of this nation and the wealthy don't have a clue who they are.
