GunFree Camp Response
To save the gentle reader some postage, I am posting the letter that I've been sending out to the GunFree Camp inquirers.
Dear GunFree Camp Inquirer:
The GunFree Camp is an attempt to use humor to illustrate the hypocrisy of the victim disarmament (a.k.a. gun control) crowd. I have received over 1,000 hits (my ISP reset the counter) on the GunFree camp page on my website, not to mention the people who have seen cross postings on Free Republic, Free-Market.Net, and The Independence Institute's humor webpage. Despite this fair number of hits, I have only received a handful of inquiries (although I've received a considerable number of attaboys and some hate mail). I certainly haven't had the likes of Charles Schumer, Dennis Hennigan, Diane Feinstein, Sarah Brady, or your local newspaper editors beating down the door to reserve their place in a GunFree camp.
Given that the gun-grabbers have demonstrated that they have severe humor impairment, I doubt that they can grasp that my little brochure was intended to be humor. I know that some of the more mischievous readers would certainly made sure that the leaders in the victim disarmament movement would have received an invitation. Yet none of them have contacted me. I am not surprised.
The reason the hoplophobic politicians and lobbyists didn't write is because they don't want to live in a gun-free surrounding. They want to keep their guns. They just don't want the loot-producing serfs to have them. They're afraid that someday that the power-grab du jour may prove to be the straw that broke the camel's back, and they don't want to chance having to answer to a bunch of uppity serfs with guns demanding that they follow the laws they swore to uphold.
I'm sorry that I can't show you a nice camp where these people can live the same lifestyle that they have intended for us (for those who say "It can't happen here," it already has. The first picture on the brochure was a concentration camp where American citizens of Japanese ancestry were interned during WWII. We are just an emergency of two away from fascism). While I've had someone offer the use of some land for one of these camps, I haven't received enough interest from future "happy campers" to justify buying the first coil of concertina wire.
So that you won't go away empty handed, I'll send you some pamphlets from the Law Abiding Gun Owners.
Best Regards,
