O'MALLEY SURGING WHILE DALEY ATTACKS LAW ABIDING GUN OWNERS February 1, 2002 - by John Birch, Concealed Carry Some good news. Internal polling shows O'Malley surging among informed voters. Note I say "informed" voters. Why is this important? Because they are the ones who actually go to the polls and vote in a primary. I don't care if Jim Ryan is 40 points ahead of the pack as long he is getting his points from those who are not going to bother to vote. Stay the course, put your O'Malley signs up, stickers on, change your voicemail to include a plug for O'Malley and get like minded folks to VOTE. Which brings us to Daley. His latest thing is to have local municipalities use their home rule powers to pass laws that "no law abiding gun owner" could possibly object to. Small things like having your name and gun purchased reported to the police. Why would you, Mr. Law Abiding Citizen, mind if the cops know what guns you have? For instance, a Chicagoan comes to Concealed Carry, Inc. to buy a Glock 27 and after he leaves I report that to the Chicago Police and the gun owner is subsequently arrested. What is to complain about that? The front organization set up to strip your human rights away is the Safe Communities Fighting Gun Violence (SCFGV), whose members include Chicago, Buffalo Grove, Elmwood Park, Evanston, Lynwood, Midlothian, Melrose Park, Northbrook, Oak Lawn, Palatine, Prospect Heights, Riverdale and Wilmette. We have run a corporate search and the SCFGV does not even exist. Clearly it's an organization similar to the I$RA's Collar County Grass Roots sham. The SCFGV probably is set up by the whacko's at the ICHV. If you live in any of the towns listed above you need to get in contact with your elected officials and tell them they need to disavow the SCFGV and Mayor Daley or face the music. Joining the Mayor at the news conference were the following fellow traitors: Mayors Elliott Hartstein of Buffalo Grove, Peter Silvestri of Elmwood Park, Lorraine Morton of Evanston, Russell Melby of Lynwood, Tom Murawski of Midlothian, Ronald Serpico of Melrose Park, Mark Damisch of Northbrook, Ernest Kolb of Oak Lawn, Rita Mullins of Palatine and Ed Rotchford of Prospect Heights; Police Chiefs Tom Braglia of Elmwood Park, Frank Kaminski of Evanston and David Shilling of Riverdale; and City Attorney Timothy Fenzer of Wilmette. Also at the news conference were Chicago Police Superintendent Terry Hillard; Rev. Colleen Norman, Associate Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Chicago and the Chicago Temple, representing the Interfaith Initiative Against Gun Violence; Alec Harris, Chair of the Interfaith Initiative Against Gun Violence; Steve Baron, Co-chair of the Illinois Lawyers of the Legal Community Against Violence; Thomas Mannard, Executive Director of the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence; and Dr. Matt Longjohn of the Handgun Epidemic Lowering Plan (H.E.L.P.). As predicted Daley is not going to take responsibility for those murdered in his city. No, he's going to go after the gun owners. We are to be held responsible for "flooding the streets of Chicago with illegal" guns. The strategy is to continue to demonize gun owners in the most vile murderous ways. Gun owners, unlike gays and blacks, are willing punching bags. No way would Daley say that gays spread AIDS and endanger the community. No way will Daley say that the typical black neighborhood is so dysfunctional that it is creating murderers out of young boys. But Daley will say that gun owners are the one's causing the blood bath in his city and our response will be to take a * slapping and thank Daley for giving it to us. Gun owners in Chicago will retreat even more into their shell of fear and will dare not question one word of Daley's blunt accusations. And when these Chicago gun owners are told by their neighbors that guns are bad they will hang their heads in shame and have no answer because if they disagree, they won't get their garbage picked up or their sidewalk fixed. Chicago is the front lines of the gun rights war but beyond a small guerilla movement, which has NO CHICAGO CITIZENS as members, there is no one to fight. Daley isn't beating us as that implies Daley has an opponent. Nope, Daley wins because our team won't even show up for practice, much less the game. I don't live in Chikago so I don't really share a Chikago citizens constant fear of the police. On the other hand Chikagoans are relying on others to fight tehir battle for them. So I'm going to suggest Chikagoans put a $5 bill in an envelope and mail it to the Champaign County Rifle Association who are doing one heck of a job to get pro gun folks in office. The CCRA is in a position to help elect Justice Steigmann to the Illinois Supreme Court and since Cook County will never send a gun rights justice to the Supreme Court, I'd think Chikago gun owners would want to help out.
