Coast Guard seizes guns after boarding boat from O.C. January 14, 2002The Orange County Register Federal officials will investigate whether the owner of a cabin cruiser out of Huntington Beach should face firearms charges after allegedly shooting World War II-era guns during an excursion near the Port of Los Angeles, U.S. Coast Guard officials said Sunday. After getting a report from another boat, the Coast Guard cutter Narwhal found and boarded the 37-foot-long cruiser in the port Saturday after it had left the open ocean, officer Chuck Lindsey said. The guard seized two World War II-era machine guns, one of them a Japanese model. The man who owns the cruiser and the guns said he has the proper paperwork to own the weapons. Even if he does, he could face a firearm charge if an investigation determines any shots were fired within three nautical miles of the coast, Lindsey said.Because the man has not been arrested, the Coast Guard declined to reveal his name. http://www.ocregister.com/local/guns00114cci.shtml
