Demand for more secure storage of Home Guard weapons The weapons of the Home Guard ought to be stored in central depots. This is the opinion of the Labour Party and the Socialist Left, following the triple murder at Geilo over the weekend, when the murderer used his Home Guard AG-3. While the other political parties want to maintain the present system, with the members of the Home Guard storing their guns at home, Labour wants the guns stored in central depots in each community.-I believe it would be better to keep the weapons in secure depots in the local community, says Labour's Marit Nybakk.-It is important that individuals don't have the possibility to easily get hold of a gun when a personal crisis occurs, says Socialist Left leader Kristin Halvorsen.Justice Minister Odd Einar Doerum wants to maintain today's system, but is of the opinion that a thorough consideration of today's arrangement is needed. He calls for a better medical evaluation of the Home Guard personnel. The military has been strongly criticized several times for a lack of control with the weapons. However, Defence Minister Kristin Krohn Devold says the present system should continue, with a few adjustments. http://www.norwaypost.no/content.asp?folder_id=1&cluster_id=18488
