Convict in pizzeria slayings denies buying weapon at gun showAssociated PressOct. 31, 2001 07:50:00TUCSON - A key factor in a long-running war over gun show sales apparently turns out not to have been true.Kajornsak Prasertphong, convicted last year of killing three people at a restaurant in 1999, said under oath last week that he did not buy the gun used in the slayings at a Tucson Convention Center gun show.Investigators had maintained that Prasertphong bought the .40-caliber Glock semiautomatic pistol at the Tucson Convention Center.That was a major factor leading to an attempt to bar gun show sales without background checks.Christopher "Bo" Huerstel, who with Prasertphong is on death row for the murders, admitted shooting all three with Prasertphong's gun.Prasertphong had refused to say where and how he obtained the gun. Attorneys for a Tucson gun store and a local gun seller said his recent comments were made during interviews with attorneys representing various sides in two pending civil lawsuits.Families of two of the Pizza Hut victims had filed suit against Centerfire Inc. and Stanley Woznicki, the man who bought the murder weapon from Centerfire and resold it sometime before the murder.Investigators said they still believe Woznicki sold the Glock at a TCC gun show, though not necessarily to Prasertphong.Prasertphong, questioned on Oct. 22 at the Arizona State Prison, said he did not know Woznicki."And as far as I know, towards the Glock and this theory of me purchasing a gun at a gun show, no, I have never purchased any firearm at a gun show," Prasertphong said.Prasertphong said a friend bought the gun for him in 1997.
