Do You Feel Safer With A Gun Since 9/11?Gun Sellers Say Their Stores Are FloodedPOSTED: 7:48 a.m. CST October 30, 2001UPDATED: 4:02 p.m. CST October 30, 2001MADISON -- Gun sales are on the rise since the terrorist attacks. SURVEY Do you feel safer with a gun since 9/11? No way, I hate guns.I have thought about it, but would never get a gun.Yes, I know it can't stop terrorism, but it makes me feel safer.Yes, I just got a gun and feel better.I have always had guns. Customers filled gun stores in Janesville after Sept. 11, many buying their first handgun. The phone hasn't stopped ringing and customers get in line at Goepfert's Purchasing House looking for protection. "Since about four days after the attack, we saw a big increase in people coming in, interested in buying handguns, primarily for self-defense," said owner John Goepfert. Gun sellers are hearing the stories from customers who say they've felt less safe since Sept 11, and they're looking to regain the sense of security they once had. "We had an individual that only owned one rifle in his life, and he felt threatened by the situation, so he purchased a 9mm automatic and a .357 magnum," Mike Hillison of Janesville Sports Shop said. Before last month's attacks, gun sales in Janesville were down about 10 percent for the year. Now, gun store owners and managers are reporting about three new customers a week are inquiring about protection. "Most of the customers that were coming in were first-time buyers, had never had firearms, let alone handguns before," Goepfert said. "In one afternoon, the world changed for everybody. We realized that we are vulnerable, and the country isn't as safe as we thought it was."Take poll here; http://www.channel3000.com/news/1034022/detail.html

I replied. Not sure wether better to answer "yes, I feel better" or " always had guns".I sus[pect the "feel better" answer will be the most effective.

Yeah, but not realistically for protection from terrorists who like sneak bomb attacks. If the shtf some wilding folks evacuating, may be looking to take your car to escape in, your cash, goods, food, occupy your house etc..

I keep +Ps in my favorite revolver and my $$ in my wallet. It's a S&W 10-6. It's accurate, dependable, and good looking. What else can you ask for?

Have you noticed that it's so much safer to be a member of the military these days? These morons are targeting civilians and there are not enough military or police to protect everyone. We don't know what the next step will be so I will be prepared to protect myself from everything that is in my power to repel. A big part of that is owning a gun -- a gun that is loaded and to which I have easy access.

OK IB.,just this ONCE I have carried for the better part of 20 years and yes I sure as hell feel safer for it.Do you want to know when I am feeling REALLY SAFE?When I'm carrying my Les Baer custom carry 1911 .45 in my Mitch Rosen Stylemaster shoulder rig backed up with a baby glock 27 .40 in a Galco ankle glove, lethal combo for fall, winter and early spring carry.During the summer I feel safe just to carry the baby glock in a IWB,I feel the added punch of the .45 during winter is a better round for penetration due to excess clothing and jackets.
