Gotcha! The Federal Brady Act has been Invoked!

If you are considering, or you are involved in a divorce or separation you should be aware of a movement by county attorneys and divorce attorneys that can and will affect your right to own a firearm.

Even though you do not have a history of domestic violence, and you are not accused of it, language in the Brady law could be insidiously included in your settlement agreement that will invoke the Brady law.

In the past the Brady law has only applied to specific protection orders. Some states and counties file protection orders separate from divorce agreements, which will give a subject of these orders notice that protection orders are being filed. However, there is no guarantee that a savvy attorney, or judge, will not include this language without your knowledge.

Because of the filing costs involved in separate filings Porter County Indiana is asking for the language to be included in divorce agreements. Porter County Superior Court Judge Thomas Weber presents attorneys of divorced persons a document that advises, ".that as a result of specific wording used in divorce agreements to protect one or both parties from arm, the federal Brady Act has been invoked."

If you are currently the subject of a divorce, or domestic dispute, it will be in your best interest to scan any documents for wording that includes "restrains from harassing, stalking or threatening." Or any mention of the Brady Act. That simple statement invokes the Brady law and you will be prevented from ever exercising your right to own a firearm, or ammunition, for any purpose for the rest of your life.

As an example of how some laws seem to take on a life of their own the Brady Act is now extending itself into divorce proceedings in complete disregard for due process. We can look forward to more states and counties adopting this language in the near future.

To make matters worse Democrat Senator Charlie Schumer has introduced Senate bill S. 2826 that will make even more citizens subject to the unconstitutional provisions of the Brady law and the so-called Lautenberg gun ban.

Each of these legislative intrusions against our rights is in clear violation of the Second and Tenth Amendments. S. 2826 will authorize millions of dollars to the states to improve their criminal record system and include many more citizens in the federal database as prohibited possessors.

These anti-gun extremists in Congress will never learn that gun laws do not save lives and domestic protection orders will not stop a determined criminal from violating firearm laws.

Armed Females of America is opposed to all firearm laws. This includes the Brady law! Firearm ownership is a natural right endowed to all citizens.

Please forward this message to as many persons as you can and advise them to contact their Senators and Congressmen and urge them to oppose this legislation.
