Last week, one of America's most outspoken defenders of the Second Amendment announced to the world that he suffers from symptoms consistent with Alzheimer's disease.

Charlton Heston, the legendary actor and National Rife Association president, vowed in a videotaped statement that he is "neither giving up nor giving in" and will continue to work as long as he can.

In one of his most recent interviews leading up to that announcement, Heston told WorldNetDaily of his continued resolve to defend the right to bear arms.

Heston said activists who seek to legislate the Second Amendment into oblivion are "inadequately equipped with a knowledge of the Bill of Rights," which is "perfectly clear."

"I love to do interviews with some of those guys," Heston said, "because they really don't know where they are on it."

Heston said the Rosie O'Donnells and Million Mom Marchers who have so much power to sway opinion through a sympathetic media cannot be ignored, but "they can be denied and they can be faced down. And that's what we have to do."
