I am thinking about buying one of the Cetme .308 rifles that are on the market right now. Does anyone have any information as to how good or how bad they are?

I have found a century cetme at a local pawn shop for $550. Rate the rifle a 8 out of 10. Black polymer furniture. Is this worth running back tommorrow and picking up?

Whats is the best quality brand of CETME, besides Hk?

Are CETME very reliable and accurate?

What is the differance between a 3 pin CETME, and the ones after the ban?

The next gun show is mid-May. One of the local gun shops has a CETME right now for $399 (a bit high). I think a defense gun in .308 would be a good addition to my collection but don't have money for an AR-10. I hear the CETME's best receiver was the stainless steel. Yet the new receiver is advertised as closest to the original HK receiver. What's the scoop on the latest crop of CETMEs? Sometimes when the price comes down, so does the quality.

Are the $289 wholesale CETMEs being delivered now with the new receivers good, durable, reliable shooters? Do they take a scope well? Some people dislike the wood stocks but I think some of them look great that way, and some of the all-black G3s look beat up by comparison.

The only stupid qestions are the ones not asked.... Should I hold out for a source of the stainless receiver, and maybe pay more, or will the newest crop of CETMEs take a beating and keep on ticking?

The Cetme predates the H&K G3. Lots of folks are having problems with those currently available, but most things work outwith a lot of grease removal and some tinkering. The one I personally test fired was loud enough to rattle your earmuffs, but was capable of shooting 2" groups. Check out: http://www.geocities.com/miketheelectrician1/cetme1.html?1006632443870 He has some great Cetme info at this site.By the way, I still have one, so email if you're interested: cedarnut@aol.com

I looked into the CETME deal and have come to one conclusion,BUYER BEWARE.ANY gun that is assembled by Century arms should be looked over for fit, function and quality. Those trained monkeys who build the guns for century are not noted for their craftsmanship.Only buy a Century gun if you can have a hands-on inspection of it.When they started assembling the SAR-series AK's the first batch were absolutely awefull, tool marks all over them as well as canted front sights so bad that you could not even get the gun on target.Allthough as time passed and the trained monkeys got used to building them right and the 2000 SAR's are a lot nicer, all you have to do is look at a 1999 century SAR,JMO,Josey
