today by the ISRA Congressional Campaign Committee (ISRA-CCC):
The ISRA-CCC is pleased to announce its list of candidate
endorsements for the 2002 U.S. House and U.S. Senate races.
Key endorsements include:
17th Congressional District - Republican Peter Calderone is
endorsed. Calderone is a solid supporter of the rights of hunters
and sportsmen. His opponent, Democratic incumbent Lane Evans, has
a long history of voting against the interests of hunters and
sportsmen.
19th Congressional District - Republican John Shimkus is
endorsed. Shimkus has been solidly on the side of law abiding gun
owners, hunters, and sportsmen. His opponent, Democratic candidate
David Phelps, was not considered for endorsement in light of his
support for Rod Blagojevich's gubernatorial campaign. Phelps is
one of the founding members of a "sportsmen's" organization that
has been publicly distorting Blagojevich's extremist record on gun
control. Law-abiding gun owners cannot trust David Phelps.
U.S. Senate - No preference is shown as none of the slated
candidates meet the standards for endorsement by the ISRA-CCC.
Other endorsements include:
5th Congressional District - Republican Mark Augusti is
endorsed.
8th Congressional District - Republican Phil Crane is endorsed.
9th Congressional District - Libertarian Stephanie Sailor is
endorsed.
11th Congressional District - Republican Jerry Weller is
endorsed.
12th Congressional District - Democrat Jerry Costello is
endorsed.
13th Congressional District - Republican Judy Biggert is
endorsed.
14th Congressional District - Republican Denny Hastert is
endorsed.
15th Congressional District - Republican Tim Johnson is
endorsed.
16th Congressional District - Republican Don Manzullo is
endorsed.
18th Congressional District - Republican Ray LaHood is endorsed.
