Police Officer Arrested for Beating His Girlfriend Over Slice of Pizza
A Metro Police officer has been arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault.

Officer George Conway was accused of beating his ex-girlfriend for eating a slice of his pizza without permission.

In 1991, Conway was suspended for 20 days without pay for driving his police car while off-duty and threatening the male friend of a girlfriend.

    Drug bust snares cop

By JOHN WISELY, Of The Oakland Press September 28, 2002

    September 28, 2002
PONTIAC - A rookie Detroit police officer was one of three people arrested in what investigators call a major drug distribution network.
Prosecutors expect to arraign the officer and two women this morning on drug conspiracy charges.
Narcotics officers from across Oakland County raided two homes in northwest Detroit early Friday, including one where the officer lived. Inside they said they found an operation capable of processing dozens of kilos of drugs a month.
"They were equipped to handle soup to nuts in the drug business," said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard. "The investigation led us to his doorstep."
Investigators seized 21/2 kilos of suspected cocaine from one of the homes and another 85 grams from the second home. Officers also seized more than a pound of marijuana and several smaller packets of cocaine. Depending on the purity of the drugs, they could have a street value of more than $1 million, investigators said.
Police also found a 9mm handgun, two shotguns, hundreds of gallon-sized plastic bags and heavy equipment used in the distribution of cocaine and marijuana. Special fabricated steel cases and five hydraulic car jacks were used to tightly compress the drugs into bricks for resale to lower level dealers, Bouchard said.
"This was a distribution operation not of grams and ounces, but rather kilos," Oakland County Prosecutor David Gorcyca said.
Undercover officers from South Oakland Narcotics Intelligence Consortium (SONIC) first learned of the operation about a month ago, Bouchard said.
SONIC, which includes detectives from Farmington Hills, West Bloomfield and Novi police and the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, began investigating and asked the county's Narcotics Enforcement Team to help.
"Obviously, these were multi-kilo dealers," said Farmington Hills Police Chief William Dwyer, who supervises the SONIC unit. "This is a tremendous cooperative effort."
Investigators were still processing evidence in the case late Friday and interviewing suspects and witnesses, Gorcyca said. Investigators plan to release more details today. Investigators withheld the names of the suspects until they are arraigned.
The 24-year-old Detroit officer is in his first year as a patrolman. His 20-year-old brother also is suspected of being involved. Police continue to search for that man.
The two other suspects in custody are a 41-year-old Detroit woman and her 20-year-old daughter.
"Obviously, it's offensive to all of us here that we have an officer involved in the case," Bouchard said.
Detroit police accompanied the Oakland County officers when the raids were conducted. State law allows county investigators to cross into Detroit to follow cases, Bouchard said.
"We're going to wait until Oakland County is done with their investigation," Detroit police Sgt. Ricardo Moore said. "The Detroit Police Department will place the officer on administrative leave."
