Man shoots, kills intruder, deputies sayA Clifton man died from a gunshot wound early Friday after witnesses say he and a group of people forced their way through another man's front door.

By Benny Lee SmithA Clifton man died from a gunshot wound early Friday after witnesses say he and a group of people forced their way through another man's front door.James Roy Conklin Jr., 24, of 120 Anderson St. died as a result of a gunshot wound to the face, according to the Spartanburg County Coroner's Office.Spartanburg County sheriff's Lt. Ron Gahagan said detectives determined the shooting happened after an argument over a woman.Conklin went to David Gregg Jr.'s house on 1959 John Dodd Road with a group of people. The group kicked in Gregg's front door.Gregg retrieved his 9mm pistol and fired at the group, reports said. One of those shots killed Conklin, according to the Coroner's Office.Deputies have not filed charges against Gregg.After the shooting, a member of the group flagged down a deputy's car and told the officer his friend had been shot.
