    I have had a root canal done, and cleaning as well, and there is no way it should still hurt after 7 weeks. Also you could be doing serious damage to your internal organs with that amount of meds. Check back with the oral surgeon that did the work,, I am presuming he and not a dentist did the work.

    Daddo;

    It's called Deep Scaling and I had it done twice in three months. Once by a Dentist and the other by a Peridontist(sic). I gotit done to late in life. In the next few years I'll be losing half my teeth. Only lost one so far.

    daddo, BTDT, it hurts like, well more than you said. One thing - get yourself some real fluoride solution and fluoride toothpaste, these are prescription items. Use faithfully. It will help prevent additional problems and dramatically reduces the sensitivity to cold. At least that is what my DDS told me & it has worked for me.

    In sincere sympathy,

    When I had my deep scaling done 6 months ago, The dentist had me use a prescription flouride treatment 4 times daily 2 weeks before and for 6 weeks after. I also had to massage the flouride into the gums for 1 weeks 2 times daily. I had some sensitivity, but it went away after about 4 weeks. Was told to use sysodyne, and to try out a SonicCare type toothbrush. That will help keep the tarter building back up under and around the gumline. Also, try to cut back on the Advil. I did some Kidney damage from long term high dosage. My Dr. told me that 800MG is all your body can handle in a day. Hope ya feel better.
