This weekend I'm having the pleasure of installing about 250
self adhesive floor tiles......After removing the carpet and
grouting and sanding the plywood joints then sealing with a primer
thats when the real fun started..........Have only the closet
left.....
Those of you that do this for a living you do not make enough
money........If this GOOD idea ever comes up again by mrs *
I'll be callin you............
I'm just now starting to feel my knees again..........Thanks for the
break.........

I helped some friends do that just once. The sanding was the hardest part. Once the carpet was torn up, the floor had to be nice and smooth. We pulled up nails, staples, all kinds of junk. Funny thing though, when we got done sanding, we liked the hard wood so well that we varnished the darn thing and left it. The manager's only comment was, "I'm not paying you for any of this!" You'll actually hear your knees saying "thank you!" when you sit down after you're done.

Boy!, can I relate to this.....Mrs Rembrandt and I have been doing our version of "This Old House". We didn't do the self adhesive type but laid ceramic tile in the kitchen, dining room, hallways, entrance, and bathroom....I felt the same way, back and knees were aching for months...was told by a flooring contractor it would have cost me $6000 to have it done professionally, got it done for $1400 in materials....absolutely beautiful when finished.
We tore up carpet, the old loose oak flooring, went clear to the sub floor, added more subflooring and laid/glued/screwed ceramic backer board and thought I'd never get it done. Those flooring guys rank right up there with roofers and concrete workers in my book.
It looked so good, Mama wants to do our bedroom in ceramic, as well as the living room and the kitchen counters.
Pick something you like a lot, because it will be A LONG TIME before you wear it out.
Tough on the knees, too.
I have used the self-adhesive stuff, and found it to be not too durable.

My 10 yr old son loves it.........He cut most of the miter cuts...
After all the wall paint and floor tile he just told me, "Daddy I'm
gonna take good care of it." ...............This all was in his room,
he picked all the colors , looks nice.............
