Atlanta-AP -- The former radical once called H. Rap Brown faces a possible death sentence after being convicted in Atlanta of murdering a sheriff's deputy.A jury found Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin (jah-MEEL' ab-DUHL'-uh al-ah-MEEN') guilty of killing Deputy Ricky Kinchen and wounding another deputy during a shootout two years ago.Besides murder, Al-Amin was also convicted of aggravated assault on a police officer, obstruction and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.Next comes the penalty phase. The jury will decide whether Al-Amin gets death or life in prison. He's 58 years old.Deliberations stretched ten hours over two days following a three week trial. The defense argued mistaken identity, but also suggested Al-Amin was framed by the government because of his radicalism during the 1960's.
