I called to speak to my son who lives with his dad in another state and was greeted with the horror that any mother thinks she will never hear. My son had shot some kids at school. I asked again as though I did not realy hear the first time and secretly was thinking that reporters would quickly learn where I was and decend on my very seccluded property. I was still trying to get this grip on an alternet reality , when I actuly realized that I couldent hear the story because I was screaming at him.... Why?.... How could you?.... What were you thinking? My older son got on the phone to explaine...Ross a Freshman in high school, had gone to class and the teacher was in the hall talking . He went to the back of the room and met up with his friends. Another boy entered the class and seeing Ross he drew a wepon and fired. My son said he quickly ducked behind a desk and returned fire. The boy still fireing fell to the floor. The next male who came into the class room was grabed by the downed child and he began in ernest to shower the back of the room in bullits the children unable to escape the berage began to die each one in turn, more grotesquely than the last. Their bodies full of holes seeping on to the tile floor. THe boys began to adminester C.P.R. to several girls and one guy was was calling for back up on his walki talki!!The teacher ran into the class to see the carnage of 21 student bodies slautered on the floor and desks.
She was angry and demanded from the corpes to tell the story and she caught in the corner of her eye, my son reholstering his wepon.
To the prinabals office she drug him. She was so angry all fright of her own safty forgotton. The school office hearing her screaming in the hall quickly gathered to "Handel the situation" My son was questioned for names and my EX was called to the school.
My head was reeling at the thought of loss and I came to earth to ask why was he at home just the next day after the massacre.
He had been to appear befor a judge [school board superintendent]that morning and was asked again to tell who was involved and who planed this. He refused to give names and was delt with severly. They wanted to remove him permantly from that school and some said he should make resttution. He was suspended for two weeks and was given 500 hours of community service all for useing his 45"index"
I blinked and did not believe what I heard. What did you say? Did you shoot some body or not?, Did you know the other boy ?Did he have a real gun? No Mom, there was just our fingers and the whole class just got into it and they all died, it was kinda cool actualy. I asked if he was kidding! NO! So I said ,You are kidding about the princpal and the judge right? No I really am out of school and I really have to do 500 hours of community service! So what did the other kids get? nothing...What! Nothing, they are my friends and I wonte tell who it was so they are punnishing me.I was not realling hearing this so I asked again and no one got hurt? No mom. We just used our fingers, And they were so mad that they want me to do work to know how bad I was....What about the teacher ? Did she really not think to tell every body to get in thier seats or play along and die her self? What is going on there? Did your dad doooo something? Why didn't he get the whole thing droppeed? This is way out of hand! No, dad sayes he doesn't know what to do and I really have to do the work.
Yes this really happened in middle America in a small town, Butler Mo. in 2001. My son was really put through this , I understand the no violence polocy but kids letting off steam and acting like kids has gone out of style. I never want to be the parent of a child that injures another, and I dont know how those parents handel this real tradgy but this was a bit to the "left" and I think it was out of focus and should have been looked at before they brought down the gavel.

When I was a child, I thought as a child. But now that I am growen, I just wish I could act like a child and get away with it.

It sounds like you need to get that kid (back?) into South Carolina...
...although things are getting bad here too; just the other day a local middle school kid was arrested for bringing a BB gun to school (no threats of violence or anything like that; he just had it in his book bag and showed it to other kids).
You'd think the Principal would have just confiscated it, and talked to the parents, but no, he had to call the police, have the 11-year-old arrested and have the police "take the weapon into evidence" (as the paper wrote about it).
Guess we're becoming, "America, land of the slaves, home of the cowards--or maybe that should be imbeciles"!
Had it been done in art class or drama class, it might have won an award.
I saw a real crime in a school once, on film. The teacher was nationally recognized and lauded for her crime, also psychodrama, a play that plays with your head.
In order to teach tolerance, she divided the class into two groups. Brown-eyed kids on one side, blue-eyed kids on the other. Then, she told the blue-eyed kids that they were smarter than the brown-eyed kids and that they would make better grades, get into better colleges, and get the better jobs. The brown-eyed kids were all just a little stupid, and would probably not amount to much.
Needless to say, the brown-eyed kids were all in tears. These were LITTLE kids. Maybe first or second grade.
After the kids were so indoctrinated, she reversed and made the brown-eyed kids out to be the smart ones, and made the blue-eyed kids feel like losers. More tears.
She made her point, but at what cost?
She should be glad she didn't teach my children.
