Things we collect....and just can't throw out

Mrs Rembrandt and I have been married almost 28 years....and it's amazing what you can collect over the years. She keeps threatening to throw out my treasures that really don't do anything but take up space....like my 8 track recorder and tapes, clothes I wore in college, Snap-On Tool Girly Calendars, a pile of discarded gun stocks, and original gun boxes from previous purchases.Maybe I should have a garage sale and take the proceeds to buy a new toy....

Rem.,My problem is buying anything that is discounted enough.Yesterday I bought a desk that must weigh 400 lbs-Walnut vaneer-$14.99,gunna use it for a loading bench. When I went to pick up the desk today,I saw a computer for $69.00,told them to hold it,goin` to pick it up in the mornin`.I already am thinkin` about some of the other stuff they had there,...Hey Rem.,ya say ya got some gun stocks,..I bought some of those about 2 weeks ago..What`ll ya take for yours??.218 The Purchasing Agent

Okay 218, where'd ya buy the big furniture at for 14.99? I'm looking for something that I can set up to use as a reloading bench in my apartment.

Wow...and I haven't been inside of a Goodwill in ages. I'll have to peek inside the one next to Dunham's Discount Sporting Goods next time I'm in the neighborhood. Speaking of collected treasures that take up space, I have a ton of clothes that need to go to Goodwill. I have a problem with getting rid of clothes that people gave me as gifts but no longer fit or are worn out beyond servicability.Between Rembrandt and 218 a problem was exposed and a solution was given. Long live the SJC. Now I have more room for guns!

Gun parts-I save all my gunparts, good ones bad ones you name it. If i change a stock for instance I will keep it. I have parts that i have long forgotten what they are and where they go. I can't seem to part with any of it.One of these days i will get around to culling them out or my wife is going to nag me to death.

I keep watching "Antiques Road Show", maybe if I hang onto this stuff long enough it might be worth something. Wasn't it Saxon Pig that made out big time on his old matchbox cars?....

Wife got rid of my bell bottomed hip hugger pants from the sixties... and now they are back in style. She did it with out me knowing. Never throw anything away... you might need it. Just build a bigger garage or storage room.

Must be a gender thing. I don't throw anything out unless convinced it has no intrinsic value. And it's a constant battle to retrieve things of known value from the trash before they disappear forever. But you have me beat, Rem . . . old calendars?! Yeah, I used to have a bunch of tie-dye tee shirts in college. After school when I got married they somehow "disappeared". My wife claims she has no idea what happened to them, but I KNOW she threw them out or gave them to Purple Heart. Oh well. For those of you who have stuff that you want to get rid of like clothes, books, etc. I recommend getting a receipt, you can use it as a tax deduction. I periodically donate boxes of books to the local library and clothes to various charities and I at least get something in return (a small write-off). Just a thought.

I've been collecting broken hearts over the years, starting with Julie Lusby back in the sixth grade. Most recent one was a while back, so I'm either on a hot streak or I'm due. I'm getting the feeling it's the second option.

Gun grips, every type of brass, gun parts etc. We moved a couple of months ago and it was a sobering experience to see all of the stuff I had stashed away. Much to my wife's chagrin, almost all of it went with us.

Sako,I used to do that while in high school (I did own guns though) and sell the brass to the scrap metal place. Along with whatever else my bud and I could find, aluminum cans, roof tin in the woods, etc. Good gas money.

Strange, but true.....I am married to someone who has the silly idea that you should actually be able to SEE the counter and table tops, and that occassionally drawers should have (GASP!) empty space in them. He will throw out anything that isn't nailed down. We once went dumpster diving to find the paycheck stubs needed to close a car loan because he decided once the money was in the bank, he didn't need the stub anymore.

Mommom, You need to consult a physician immediately. Your husband may be ill. Also, don't stand in one place for too long, he may throw you away!
