The IRS said they owed 3 Million. They found a Tax Service that spelled out the correct way to read the Tax code to the IRS employee.

IRS might have waived fees/penalites to get paid sooner

Maybe they got whatever was being taxed reassessed to a lower value?

The tax code is inherantly unfair, being stacked against producers while 40% of the population pays nothing in federal taxes. Given that injustice I don't blame anyone for trying to reduce or eliminate their tax assessment. Want everyone to pay what they owe? Then we need a flat tax where everyone pays the same percentage of their income. Everyone.

Tax evasion is a crime. Tax avoidance is common sense.

Forget flat taxes - just eliminate taxes altogether.

Let the government raise money through tariffs and bake sales.

Can't do that. It would make socialism too difficult to manage.

A few years back the IRS said my dads company owe'd them $20,000. Turns out the lady who audited us made a mistake and was having dad pay taxes on things he already paid them on or something. Cost him about $10,000 to have a private audit and legal stuff taken care of. He shouldn't have paid anything.
