Congrats interstate! You will find this to be life's greatest joy (and sometimes it's hardest job too!)!!

I had my first child almost 11 months ago and every day my love for my daughter grows stronger. It is truly amazing watching a little one grow and learn.

    Enjoy!!!!

p.s. Take care of your wife during this time, many moms feel depressed for the first month or two after having birth. Make her feel like she's still important and your life will be easier!

Interstate, my congratulations - and envy! I remember the joy of those days. In some respects, it seems like last week, but then I look at the teens preparing for college & realize it is not. Take sodbuster's advice to heart. Every time you are presented with a situation in which your instinctive response is "oh, I'll have time to do that later" - *DON'T* listen to your instinct. I made a special effort to spend as much time as I could with my kids, think I did more than most, and to this day regret the times I listened to that instinct. You can never go back and recapture any opportunity you let slip.

Varmithunter has it right - you have found the meaning of life and the fountainhead of happiness.

Congratulations!!! Now spend as much time with him as you can. As he grows take the time to play with him and teach him. The work will still be there tomorrow but someday he'll grow up and be gone and you'll say, "Where did the years go?" ENJOY!!! GHD

There is nothing like the feeling of holding your child for the first time.

Sooooooo, When do we see a picture?

    Remember wha Mark Twain said,

When they're born, put them in a box with a hole cut in the top. Feed them through that hole. When they're 15, nail the hole shut.

Just a joke, congratulations, and may God bless his parents and him through his life.

    Best wishes to your family.

Now an amazing thought for you, most children are raised by amateurs. Therefore, never hesitate to ask a question of your parents or grandparents.

BlackRoses, my wife got me pretty well trained for the 2AM feedings, even though our babies were breast fed. I would have to get up, change the baby before feeding (who wants a wet diaper in bed?), bring the baby to my wife, she would feed him, then I would burp and change him again (usually feeding makes them go #2), then put him back to bed. Meanwhile, she didn't have to get out of bed so she could get right back to sleep and it didn't bother her much. We'd switch off every other night so she would do most of it when it was my night to sleep.

What really threw us for a loop was the fact that our first wouldn't go to sleep until about 10 or 11 PM for the night, then he would get up about 5 AM. We tried everything, including no naps in the day. Finally we just got used to the fact that he didn't sleep much.

Then when our second came along and he would sleep from 8 PM to 8 AM, we thought something was wrong with him. Nope, just a different person with different sleep needs.

(interstatepawnllc, good luck and take whiteclouder's advice.)

I've been through it 4 times, and each time was just as special. Congratulations! All the advice you've been given is the best advice in the world, which means you won't pay any attention to it, any more than any of us did when we became parents! Parenting is a lot like riding a bike. You'll fall down a couple of times, but you'll learn to ride. Remember, no matter how wobbly the ride is, don't stop peddling the bike, or you WILL fall down. (Just think, you are about 20 years, more or less, away from being a grandparent...)

This forum usually can not agree on much, which gun to buy, what caliber to use, what tool to use, what bike to ride. But I think we all pretty much agree that THIS IS A GOOD THING. Congrats. Don't forget to KEEP TAKING PICTURES ""through ALL"" the years. They grow so fast you never get another chance. Don't miss out.Best wishes for all of you.
