Good solvent for rust on Parkerized receiver?

My 870 used to ride in the trunk of a car that turned out to have a bad trunk lid seal, allowing moisture inside. The gun has developed light surface rust spots on the matte Parkerized receiver and along a bit of the barrel. I've got it covered in Break Free at the moment but was wondering what the best method is for renewing the surface. I'm thinking of selling this down the line and getting something I like better, but I don't want to sell somebody a rusty gun. Will steel wool harm the Parkerizing? Is there a way to stop the oxidation dead in its tracks?

offeror - Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner gel with "0000" (very fine) steel wool will get the surface rust completely out without harming the finish; however, if the rust has penatrated "through" the finish, you will have bare spots and then the areas will need to be re-finished (re-parkerized). Use the steel wool and "gently" work the area with the cleaner until the rust is loosened. (You will see the gel turn reddish in color). You do not need to apply much pressure as the rust will breakup by chemical reaction. Then, wipe the area clean with a soft cloth. After removing the rust, you will need to apply an oil with anti-corrosive properties such as Break Free CLP to keep further rust from forming. KG

Yup, I'd say either Blue Wonder or CLP and rub it in real good with a cloth. Don't use steel wool, it might scar your parkerizing. If anything you might use a hard nylon bristled tooth brush.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

I recently cleaned up my brother-in-law's badly rusted and neglected 03-A3 with parkerized finish.
I used WD-40, 0000 steel wool and some elbow grease. The gun has probably NEVER looked better.
Now I can't bring myself to give it back to that "abuser".
