I realize it has been a few months since my last gun purchase, so I've been looking for something new. I was hoping to get some advice from you guys (and gals) on what to do with some extra dough. I would like something for CCW, but was thinking about some of the classics before they disappear.I would LIKE to spend $300-$400Here's what I was thinking about:Keltec P-11 Russian SKSTaurus 617S&W 29any RELIABLE 22 handgun for plinkingWhat do you think?

I bet you can pick up a used Ruger .22 pistol in your price range and have enough left over for a military surplus bolt action to play with. I know it's not on your list, but Lee Enfields are cheap and lots of fun. Really nice ones can be had for just over $100.00WOODS

Ruger mark ll stainless is a nice shooting 22. It will hold it's value. The russian SKS would be good. cheap to shoot and a blast to shoot. I don't know if it is better than the others but thats the perception.CZ-52 pistol. $125.00 pistol, holster, two mags. Really feels like you are doing something when you touch that thing off. Great fun.Mosin nagant M-44 new in paper wrap for about $70.00-80.00 Big bang small dollars.M-48 Yugo mauser New unfired beautiful guns for about $150.00. Corrosive ammo. about $80.00 for 1400 rounds. Kicks like a mule.Model 29 S&W would last you a lifetime. So many choices, so little income. It's good to see other posters in the middle of the night.

Makarov is also a classic, $125-$150 more punch than a .380 and easily concealable. Ruger MKII used, $150-$185. CZ52 is a great pistol (7.62X25 or 9mm) ... there is also a CZ52 rifle, shoots 7.62X54R, I think they are also in the $100-$150 range. Lots of Mausers from $50-$200 and 1400 rounds of ammo for $80 (mine with haz-mat & shipping was $110 delivered) One thing I've found about my Yugo M48, Its an "intermeidate" length action and hard to find a nice sporter stock if you want something besides the military look.

Here's my near-term wish list: Bolt-action .22 for targets, Kel-Tec Sub 2000 just because, Ruger Mark II for targets, something in a 9mm semi pistol for targets and home defense backup (while I haul out the larger artillery). I also have a hankering for the Ruger revolver that can take .38, .357, and 9mm. The pistols have to wait until my NY permit comes through, hopefully in another month or two. I think I'd better start saving.

You should buy two of the same Heritage Rough Rider .22lr pistols and play cowboy... I'm not being sarcastic, actually do so, but by play cowboy I mean shoot SASS type stuff. Its cheap and fun. For $500 you could get both pistols, a leather dual holster setup and a brick of 22's.
