Any Encore owners can give me the skinny on how this thing shoots? Will it group good or does it shoot bigger groups than a shotgun at 100 yds? Any info is appreciated.

Encore 209x50 ML 240gr sabot on top of 3-50gr pellets, 3 shot cloverleaf (cover everything with a quarter) @ 100 yd.
With the 15" 7-08 barrel, iron sights (and my bad eyes) theirs no problem keeping groups under a inch @ 50yd with factory ammo.

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

will270: if your talken the 209x50 try 3-50gr pellets of cleanshot over a CVA 295gr hp powerbelt bullet,,mine has a Bushnell Holo sight on it because here in WI we can not use a scope on our blackpowder guns unless its a 1X which I don't like, 1 to 2 inch groups at 100yds..
If you guys haven't tried the CVA powerbelt do so they shoot great and are a lot easier to load than a regular sabot

Not shooting a muzzleloader. My friend has one that shoots terrible and I was gonna get one. Maybe I will hold off a bit and see if his is a fluke. He thinks he will get it to shoot right but somehow I doubt it.

will270, I have a good friend who bought one in 22-250 this spring. He had me mount the scope and break the barrel in like it was mine. He was very upset with the groups we got up until about 25 shots. It will shoot 1/2 inch groups now. He's pleased and just this evening I watched him kill a groundhog at a measured 246 yds. Not a terribly long shot but he did it with his gun and a load that he loaded. He will be a varmint hunter now! I think the Encores are good guns. I also think they may take a little more settling in than some of our turnbolts do. T/C isn't known for turning out junk. If the bug hits you for a break-open single shot, I don't think you can beat them. That's not the only experience I've had with these guns, just the latest. GHD

We crowned the muzzle the muzzle and that had a dramatic effect! I gots to learn this gunsmithing thing, for real.

Still working on a load for my 30/06 15" bbl. Encore. Last 2 loads were a little over 1/2" groups with IMR 4064 and 150gr. Nosler ballistic tips. Going to try 165gr. next. I live in an area where it is shotgun or handgun for deer. Used an XP100 in 35Rem. since 1992 and want a longer range gun.
