FDLE Offers Reward on Information of False Bomb Threats September 14, 2001Due to the recent terrorist attacks, law enforcement officials around the state have been receivingfalse bomb reports. This requires law enforcement to spend valuable time and resources away fromtheir public safety mission."This kind of act will not be tolerated. We will aggressively investigate every false bomb threat wereceive to ensure justice is brought to those responsible for such acts," stated FDLE CommissionerTim Moore.Section 790.164, Florida State Statutes states it is a second-degree felony for an individual makinga false report of a bomb on publicly owned property. The statute also provides a $5,000 reward forinformation leading to the arrest, prosecution, and conviction of any person responsible for falsebomb reports. If convicted, an individual could face up to 15-years in prison.Individuals with any information regarding a false bomb threat are urged to call your local lawenforcement agency or FDLE at 1-800-342-0820.
