OKAY, Here's What I'd Like All You Writers to Do..

We have a golden opportunity here -- national newspapers like the Washington Post are suddenly waking up to the fact that the new and more correct reading of the Second Amendment could cause a whole lot of infringing gun control tomfoolery to come crashing down -- as it should. Use the (revised) link at the bottom of this post, but first read this:

This is our chance to start making the point that reasonable men have been misled for many years, that the Amendment is about an individual citizen's right to keep and bear arms suitable to militia use. That the laws "infringing" upon black rifles, hi-cap magazines, shorter barrels, semi-auto actions, are indeed called into question because the Amendment does not mention hunting or sporting purposes -- IT ONLY TALKS ABOUT MILITIA USE by the citizen who wants the uninfringed freedom to arm himself.

NOW THE MOST IMPORTANT PART:

The following link gets you to all the national media, including the Washington Post, New York Times, LA Times and probably the Wall Street Journal. YOU CAN WRITE ONE LETTER AND SEND IT TO A WHOLE GAGGLE OF THEM. The more they keep hearing and reinforcing this idea that the 2nd Amendment always was meant to protect us against threats within or without in times like these, that it was always about militia, or military, firearms and the freedom to possess and carry them, the more we can overcome this old assumption that it's okay to ban anything that isn't good for hunting. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the power -- here's the link below. I will probably reprint it ad nauseum until all of you have written reasoned arguments to all the major newspapers in the land to report that the current view of the Amendment is the correct view, the view intended by the founders. I say go for it. Onward and upward.

IF THIS DOESN'T APPEAR IN YOUR BROWSER AS A HYPERLINK, SIMPLY HIGHLIGHT THE WHOLE STRING AND INSERT IT INTO YOUR BROWSER'S ADDRESS WINDOW:

I'm having an exceptional week. Helmke lost the Primary, and Ashcroft sent the DOJ a new directive on the 2nd Amendment. Lord, don't take me yet, but if you did, by God I'd go happy.

This post has been read 41 times and I assume those folks are following the link and writing letters, which is great, but, you know, the post about Bullzeye having 3 IDs has over 600 hits, so I feel like we could do a LITTLE better here. Anyway, this is to keep this at the top a bit longer and give more people a chance when they get off work.

PS, I've already done a letter today via the link, and fired it off to the Washington Post, New York Times, LA Times, Chicago Tribune and the Wall Street Journal. With one click.

You're all welcome and it delights me to be able to offer this link up -- I see we have over 100 "reads" now and I couldn't be more pleased. I watched a late news analysis show last night where a woman was explaining in rather elementary terms to her colleagues just how it was that the Second Amendment could be interpreted as an individual right despite the "well regulated militia" clause. I always like to say that opening clause may suggest why they did it, but it doesn't really matter why they did it -- they DID it, unequivocally, in the following sentence. Any good English major knows that...!

I passed up reading this Thread several times because of the Title. I'm not a Writer and so I thought it didn't concern me. I read everything else so I clicked on this Thread and read what is was for. Like I said I am not a "Writer" but I can certainly express my opinions in writing without embarrassment. I will compose a letter to the best of my ability and send it off to the website you so graciously provided.
