It kills me to hear sportswriters blather on about how he should have been better over a longer period of time, when most of them couldn't throw their own back out, let alone a TD pass.
RIP Kenny.
I thought sure he was already in the HOF. He needs to be inducted now,for sure.He was one of the true greats!!!
I remember him well from his many years with the Oakland Raiders, and I also thought that he MUST be in the HOF.
While I can understand his wanting to make his battle with cancer private, it is a shame that his legion of fans didn't know about his illness and were unable to send him our positive thoughts and prayers.
Haven't thought about him in years.
RIP, Snake. You have been and will be missed.
Brad Steele
I remember one playoff game, the Raiders were behind, were down on about the enemy 20, Stabler rolled out, got tackled, just before his knees hit the ground he threw a pass to the big tight end in the end zone as the time expired. Taiders won.
One of the great plays in the history of the NFL.
Rest in Peace, Snake, you will be remembered.

QB No. 1 had a 96-49-1 regular-season record as a starter and went 7-6 in the postseason. QB No. 2 had a 62-63-4 regular-season record as a starter and went 2-1 in the postseason.
Each quarterback led his team to a Super Bowl victory, won his league's MVP or Player of the Year Award twice, had a cool nickname and made headlines off the field. They also played for the same college, and their pro careers overlapped by eight seasons.
Which quarterback should be a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame: No. 1, No. 2, both, neither?
Quarterback No. 1 is Ken Stabler. Quarterback No. 2 is Joe Namath.
Namath was inducted about 7 or 8 years after he retired. Stabler retired in the mid 80's, and his only hope now is the HoF Veteran Committee.
For crap sakes, Warren Moon is in the HoF.
