The old solid brass shotshell casing can have either a primer pocket for a large rifle primer or alternatively one of a regular shotgun battery cup primer.Wads -- needs to be oversize -- for example 11 gauge components for a 12 gauge shell. Over powder wads -- & -- fiber wads -- & over shot cards are available from Dixie Gun Works. You will need a copy of their newest catalog. Their website is www.dixiegunworks.com. Use black powder, Pyrodex RS, or CleanShot. An equal volume of one of the above for the same volume of shot.Do not even think about using one in an old Damascus barreled shotgun, until it has been thoroughly checked out by a gunsmith who knows his/her cookies with Damascus barreled shotguns and has the fiberoptic equipment to check INSIDE the barrels for any evidence of delimination. If any is present, then the shotgun is a wall-hanger not a shooter.Lastly, if the brass has been fired in some other shotgun other than the one you intend to use it in --- it may not fit you chamber. If possible, try the brass in the shotgun you intend to use it in if at all possible before you buy it. Otherwise, if you get about 1/3 of it to fit in your shotguns chamber you will be about parr for the course.
