Death but not life for significant other?

This is a long story, but I'll try to narrow it down the best I can.

The other day I had lunch with a couple acquaintances and a pretty girl walked by and they (amongst us) started making statements about how they'd like some of that. I knew over half of them were married so this struck me as a little odd.

Anyway, the conversation progressed and we started talking about home defense and one of these same guys said he'd take a bullet for his wife and most of them agreed.

I finally stood up to leave and said so you guys mean you won't LIVE for your wife since you'd cheat on her given the chance, yet you'd DIE for her by taking a bullet? [V]

Am I the only guy that thinks this is odd or what?

    I agree with ya. Definitely odd on their part. My guess is they really wouldn't take a bullet for their wives..[V]

    Odd? It's darn near a cliche. And most guy (or girl) talk is just that: TALK. Likely those attending would not cheat on their wives any more than they would take a bullet for them. Lighten up, Dude.

    Big difference between saying and doing!! Just because I am on a diet does not mean that I can't look at the menu. Bad part is the old eyes are getting so bad that I would have to have Swwbo point out the menu to me.

    My wife does not mind me looking at other women...she knows that I would never cheat on her. I frequently see other women and get a fleeting thought of "Man, I'd like to get some of that". That is part of being human...or a man at least. I just try not to entertain those thoughts. I also think most men would probably take a bullet for their wives. Just my .02[:)]

    I think it's just human to look at something/somebody that's easy on the eyes..I look and so does Stephen... Doesn't mean we act on it..

    My wife is everything in my eyes. In my younger days, had many chances to be unfaithful. Glad I didn't go down that road. It sure is nice to be able to look her in the eye with a clean conscience.[:D]

    It'll be 29 yrs this August for us.

    Told her the only mistress I'd ever have would be my guns and hunting...if she never got between "them" she'd never have to worry about me.
