June 8th, 1967. Thirty four U.S. servicemen were killed when Israeli
forces attempted to destroy the U.S. Liberty.

    It was an honest mistake. Just ask 'em. They thought the Liberty was really an...uh...um...a Nazi destroyer! Yeah, that's it. A Nazi destroyer that'd been hiding since 1945.

    LBJ was in charge ? Gutless ? You are absolutely right about Johnson!

    I read an article on him in INC magazine last week, the sorry SOB would use anyone and anything (including his "poor health") to get his way. I even heard that he'd force his flunkies to have meetings with him while he was sitting on the crapper! What a scumbag!

    He caused the deaths of many a soldier in Vietnam with his (and McNamara's) ever changing rules of engagement.

    Just thinking about Johnson makes my blood boil!!!

    And by the way, we did do something after the Liberty was shelled. We dramatically increased military support to Israel. Prior to 1967 they recieved very little from us. The six day war was won with primarily French equipment.
    Look at the situation today and try to figure that one out!
