We are at WAR! Get that through your thick skull October 8, 2001 - by Shonda M. Americans seem to have a problem with defining what the word "War" means. When a nation goes to war, it does not just send it's military to fight and expect that its civilians will go unharmed. This is war. Our nation is at war, not just our military. And, in light of the recent attack by terrorists, it is our civilians who will get hurt or killed.America, get your head out of your south-end when you face north and be reasonable about this: When the terrorists attacked the World Trade Center, they did not attack the military. They attacked American civilians. Even civilians died on the plane that struck the Pentagon. This can only mean one thing: Our government cannot be expected to "take care of us". They only have the power to declare war. They only have the power to enable the military to take action to protect us. But, here at home, in our own neighborhood, calling 911 will not save lives when a terrorist decides to strike. Sure, the police will come. Sure, the government may show up to help you fight them. But before they get there, a bunch of people are going to die--and usually, they will not be there before the terrorist disappears and is out of site, getting ready to plan the next strike. America, we are at WAR. This means that when those people in your neighborhood are killed by a terrorist, you cannot blame the government when the smoke clears. The only person you should blame is yourself, for not having the means to defend yourself. While you legislated and signed petitions to remove your neighbor's right to own a weapon of their choice to defend themselves, and possibly you, with, you signed your own death certificate. Professor of international law at Ohio State University, John Quigley commented on the military strikes on October 7 with, "We have to ask, 'Will this protect the U.S. from further attacks?" The answer is NO. But more importantly, an add-on to that answer should be, "And, it shouldn't be expected to." We are at WAR! What about that do you yellow-bellied liberal, hippie, anti-gun toting, apathetic brainwashed Americans not understand? If your family was being murdered, would you call 9-1-1 and watch them being murdered while you wait for the police? Or would you try to help them by fighting? Read my lips: WE WERE ATTACKED IN OUR OWN COUNTRY, ON OUR OWN SOIL. Many people who are not in the military were killed. Children watched on television and cried as their mothers and fathers jumped through windows to escape the burning torment of the flames that were caused by terrorists. Firemen died trying to save someone's sister, mother, brother, or father. We have not indiscriminately declared war on the terrorists. We are ONLY fighting back. We are at WAR! WAR is an acronym for We Are Ready. Are we?Again, we did not start this war. The terrorists declared war on us. They started it. We will finish it. So stop carrying signs trying to stop this war. As long as there is war declared on American civilians by foreign invaders, you sicken me to be doing such a thing. You are a traitor. You are committing treason. You are just as bad as the terrorists who are killing your neighbor by refusing to take responsibility and helping America in all her greatness by fighting back. What will you do? Cry and beg the terrorist for mercy when they come for you? Americans have never laid down and agreed to be run over. REAL Americans will not do so now. If you do not like the fact that we are fighting back, I have but one suggestion:Get out of this country. Go to Afghanistan and prostrate yourselves before them.
