New firearm models you wish they'd bring to market...

I see two hot selling items I'd push if I was a market advisor for a firearms manufacturer.1. An affordable bolt action chambered for 7.62x39. Ruger made one for a short time, I thought.2. A Bushmaster or similiar US quality homage to the AK, capable of using existing AK high cap mags.

One added thought- Is there a Federal law on the books that doesn't allow any new gun designs to use existing high capacity magazines, this seems to ring a bell, disappointing if true...

A rifle with "Smart Bomb Technology". Never have to worry about windage or bullet drop again....simply paint the target with a lazer....bullet atomatically adjusts to hit where you're pointing....just dreaming.

I wish that someone would start selling the Coonan Autos again. .357 auto and 41 mag auto would sell right now. And for my second wish I would like to see a Mag fed 12 Gauge semi auto (10rds or more after the repeal). And for my third wish I would like to see them bring back the Thompson 10mm and with a light ( 6pounds or less) frame. Now that would be something to own.

Amen to the double rifles! CZ makes a bolt-action rifle in 7.62X39. I hear they're quite nice and rather affordable depending on whether you are on a champagne or beer budget. Last time I checked they were under 500.00. Check with ton80 on that one. Lord knows he floods this place with his auctions.

Ed, you really think that there would be ANY buyers for a bolt action 7.62X39 ? There is a reason why no mfg offers such a gun - no market! Can't even imagine a possible use for it.

shootist3006: While I agree with you about the lack of practical use for a 7.62x39 bolt, I think the intended use is plinking, with hunting secondary. The little CZ is neat and has a detachable magazine. With all the cheap 7.62x39 ammunition, there might be quite a few people who would buy one. Still, why buy one over a SKS or one of the AK47 pattern clones for plinking? For my wish list, I would like to see fully ambidextrous pistol designs using polymer and titanium for extreme lightness. The pistols should have built-in recoil reduction technology (porting, buffers, etc.) and very low bore axis. The smaller the better. Another simple thing would be a double barrel shotgun that folds at the hinge, like some single shots do. Or maybe a Kel-Tec Sub 9/2000 concept in a pump or semi-automatic shotgun if legal under current law with box magazine.

Don't under estimate the CZ 527 in 7.62x39. It is a well made rifle for the money, the ammo is very cheap and equivalent in performance to a .30-.30, has a Mauser action, fixed open sites, detachable magazine, and a dovetailed receiver. Besides if your hunting black or white tail in lodge pole pines or steep mountains, it is light and fast to handle. No, I don't sell them, but I have handled one and they are a very practicle rifle.
