The Constitution vs God given rights...

It seems we are constantly kicking this subject around and some still continue to state that the Constitution granted us the God given rights enumerated in the Constitution.

Such life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Futhermore, the right to bear arms, seems to be a part of this idea as being a "right" granted by the Constitution.

Those that are well informed know that, the Constitution did not "grant these rights" at all, but simply "affirmed" them as an inherent natural law to one seeking to enjoy freedom, prosperity, and a secure way of life, furthermore, the Constitution also, recognizes that government has a duty to protect, promote and foster a climate were free people can pursue these without fear of oppression.

I think the reason why alot of people don't understand this principle is because they only focus on the latest and most recent of documents, like the Constitution, there are others documents that have to be refered to in order to make these points.

For instances if we say, that the right to bear arms existed prior to the Constitution, we must refer to colionial laws, where it was required that male members above a certain age were required to provide a firearm and serve in the militia, while requiring the colonies to provide them with lead and powder, for the defense of the colonys.

Later came, the Articles of Confederation ratified thru a series of years, finalized in 1777 which binded the colonys together as a perpetual union, named (The United States of America)for a common defense of the Union, and was formed for the express purpose of waging Independence from England.

I have heard some state that these foundational documents have been replaced by the Constitution and are not relevant, today.

It's no wonder that people are not well informed, if one dismisses the historical documents, one needs to establish the historical record to prove these inherent rights , one will always reach wrong a conclusion.

Is this the reason why so many in this country today, are so willing to change the wording, or even the wording to these priceless pieces of history?
